Wildpath's Frequently Asked Questions

So here's a list of questions that I get asked the most and feel repetitive answering because they get asked so often. ^^ If you can't find an answer here, just ask in the comments!

----

What program do you use?

Microsoft Paint

Are your linearts Paint-friendly?

Of course! I make them up in Paint, after all. ^^

How do you make your lines so smooth?

My process is this:

Sketch on paper with pencil
Ink the sketch
Scan the inked version
Clean the picture up in Paint

What can I use in your Gallery?

Anything with the word "Lineart" in the title. To make this even easier, I've placed all of my lines in a Gallery Folder that can be found here.

What can I not use in your Gallery?

Anything that is missing the word "Lineart" in the title. This means anything that I've already coloured, including character sheets, personal pictures for the 100 Warriors Themes Challenge, and absolutely anything else that isn't listed as lineart.

Can I use your lineart?

Of course! Just make sure to leave the watermark on the image itself and/or post a link to this account in the Artist's Comments.

Can I use your lineart in my book/comic/fanvid?

So long as you're not planning on making any money off of whatever you're using my lineart for, that's absolutely fine! Again, just make sure to leave the watermark on the image itself and/or post a link to this account somewhere near the picture.

Can I use your lineart on another website?

So long as you're not planning on making any money off of wherever you're using my lineart, that's absolutely fine! Again, just make sure to leave the watermark on the image itself and/or post a link to this account somewhere near the picture.

Can I use your lineart for free adoptables?

Absolutely!

Can I use your lineart for point adoptables?

No. This is because you would be making money off of my artwork, and I don't agree with that. You may have coloured the lines, but I created it and made it available for you to use in the first place.

Will this be a lineart?

Most likely no, and it may be harsh to say, but this is a very rude/greedy thing to say/ask as your first thought upon seeing a new picture.

Can you make a lineart of _________? (ex. two kits playfighting)

I don't do lineart requests. The only time I may consider making something similar to your request/suggestion is if a good number of people have already been making the same request/suggestion over a wide space of time, OR as prizes in a contest.

Well, if you won't make that lineart, where should I look to find something like it?

There are many, many other artists here on deviantArt who make free lineart! All you have to do is Search the site! To help you get started, here is a link to a search for "cat lineart."

Some incredibly popular cat-related linearts that I have seen around include stuff from these wonderful artists:

=Tesseri-Shira
*LindsayPrower
*KasaraWolf
*sailorharmony2000
~TikamiHasMoved
*therougecat
*Zukitz
~cleopata
*Agoraphobic-Blue
~JediMasterMossfur
~ScorchWolf1
~crazygirlwithasword
~Sootfrost1

May I edit your lineart for my own use?

Yes. You can edit the linearts however you would like, so long as proper credit is given to me for the original artwork.

I'd like to show you what I did with your lineart! [link]

I love to see what people do with my lines! :D Don't feel shy or frightened to drop a link, I don't get annoyed with receiving so many as I've seen one or two people do. ^^ I'm just another person like you.

The only thing I'll have to warn you about regarding showing me your picture is that I might not have a lot to say about it, simply because yes I do see a lot of things from different people. ^^; That doesn't mean I don't think much of it!

I want to use your tribal leader star/medicine cat leaf/apprentice paw and/or the different apprentice prey animals!

I do not allow this because I have not once made any of the tribal designs OR the apprentice prey animals available as lineart, nor am I going to. This means that if you have any of those "accessories" in a picture of your own, you had to have taken a character sheet (which was NOT lineart) and edited it. This counts as theft.

Why does _______ only have one eye?

This question is a must to have in this FAQ... u_u

Some lines/characters in my Gallery only include one eye on them because no matter what I tried when I was drawing the original on paper, I just could not get that other eye to look acceptable to myself. So, to avoid making a lineart that I look at in disgust every time I see it, it makes me feel better and looks more acceptable to me just to not include that second eyeball.

If it bothers you personally all that much that I stylistically chose not to squash in that second eyeball, you're free to edit the lines however you would like. =) It was just my own choice to leave it out.

Please, PLEASE make my character!!

Insisting and pushing for things like this just tends to put me in a negative mood and not want to do it for you. ^^; If anything, please go look at my Journal for how to go about asking for a picture.

Do you do requests?

Not anymore. The closest I come to doing those is when I ask for characters to include in pictures for the 100 Warriors Themes Challenge in this deviation, which I update as I need to. =)

Can we do an art trade?

Any information about trades can be found at the top of this Journal entry, including whether or not I am accepting trade offers and what to do in order to place one.

Can I make another account and do another trade with you?

I only do one trade per deviant, not per account. So please think carefully on what character(s) you want me to include in my half of a trade, because I don't appreciate being deceived.

Let me know when trades are open.

I'm sorry, but you are Watching me, not the other way around. =) I can't keep track of all of my Watchers and what exactly they want from me. If you'd like to know about my art trade status, make sure you watch my Journal updates as well, particularly because I update this entry with information about trades.

Would you like to adopt any designs that I made?

I'm sorry, but no. I love designing my own characters because it gives a real connection to them because I've created them in their entirety. =) I don't mind seeing what designs you've used my lines for, though.

Would you like to join my Warrior group?

To be honest, I'm not all that active in any of the groups that I'm already a member of, and if your group is a roleplay one, there's not much point in offering an invitation because I don't roleplay anymore anyway. ^^; I'll consider the offer, but most of the time I have to give a no.

You coloured this character wrong, or the information is wrong.

If you can give me an exact page number from an exact book where the character was mentioned as appearing differently from how I have their character sheet, then I will change its appearance. If you only have a claim and no hard evidence, I don't want to hear it.

I base the character appearances on a mix of the information that the Warriors Wiki has compiled (because for the most part they're very accurate) and my own observations while I read the books. Eventually I plan to reread all books of the Warriors franchise, taking notes on each characters' appearance, right down to scars they received in various battles. I want to be as absolutely accurate as possible.

The same goes for any kind of information, such as familial ties, mentors, apprentices, etc etc. If you can give me an exact page from an exact book to back up your claim, I will happily change the information.

Please Watch me!

I don't Watch people on this account, sorry.

How do you move the kits on the Queen+Kits linearts in Paint?

Here is a visual I made up to help with that.

Free-Form Select (at the top) lets you pick what you want to move around, while the other circled button allows you to take out the white background and move around everything that's not white. When that's selected, you can line up the outlines where they're supposed to go. =)

How do you make words into a link?

< a href="link">Words/name/whatever</a >

Just take out the very first space and the very last space. For example:

< a href="[link]">Wildpath of ShadowClan</a > would result in Wildpath of ShadowClan

How do you link to a deviant's page?

Just take out the space in these and substitute the deviant's account name:

:dev wildpathofshadowclan: = ~WildpathOfShadowClan
:icon wildpathofshadowclan: = :iconwildpathofshadowclan:

How do you make an animated avatar?

Thanks for the Llama Badge!

Thank YOU for Watching ME! =) I give a Llama Badge to everyone who Watches me as a form of gratitude, so please don't feel that you have to thank me!
